The Fleet's ongoing Public Programs are designed to inform the public about science in ways which are striking, accessible and hands-on. Events and talks in the past year have included astronaut appearances, live bats, robots, Australian animals, astronomy authors, undersea explorers and, rocket-building classes. Become an Astronaut for the day!
Your mission: Voyage to Mars in the year 2076 to replace a crew stationed at a permanent base on the Martian surface. Calculate trajectories for entering Martian orbit, launch scientific space probes and analyze extraterrestrial samples. Adults, famlies and children ages 10 and up are invited to become crew members on a simulated mission to Mars in the Nierman Challenger Learning Center. Click here for more details.

Join the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and local scientists for our 4th annual hands-on bioscience extravaganza!
- Explore the nervous system and identify animal brains with UCSD Neurosciences.
- Use a variety of microscope and create a wet mount slide with Arroyo Paseo Charter High School.
- Extract DNA and pet a hissing cockroach with Fleet Science Center staff and volunteers.
- Discover the connection between art and science with BioEASI (Bio-Education and Art for Science Innovation).
