Badge programs are offered on weekends year-round and are subject to availability. Each workshop will begin at noon. A minimum of 10 scouts is required for each program, and a maximum of 24. We encourage partnering with other groups to take a badge workshop together. One adult chaperone is required per 8 scouts. Successful completion of these workshops will fulfill the requirements for each of the badges offered. The badge is not supplied as part of this workshop. Badge workshops cannot be booked less than one month in advance.

Want to know how to write a secret message or launch a rocket? Have you ever wondered what makes magnets so attractive or why the lights come on when you flip the light switch? Uncover the answers to these and many other science questions in this wonderful workshop.

MAKING IT MATTER
Put your scientific skills to the test in this workshop devoted to the fascinating field of engineering. Explore the properties of polymers, build a sturdy structure, create a buzzing circuit, and much more.
 

SCIENCE DISCOVERY
Get a taste of what scientists do as you discover the many exciting fields of science. Start your journey indoors with investigations of light, buoyancy, and chemical reactions. Next, head outside to examine some of the trees and flowers in the park. Finally, wrap-up your workshop with an exploration of the exhibit galleries.

SCIENCE SLEUTH
Become a super science detective as you use your investigative powers to unravel the mysteries of science. Explore a crime scene and dust for fingerprints. Figure out how to make a heavy object float and create a simple machine. Experiment with sounds and much more!

SCIENTIST ACTIVITY BADGE
Utilize the Science Center exhibits and resources to test scientific laws and conduct experiments. Discover what keeps planes in the air and investigate rockets using the scientific method. Experience incredible optical illusions and learn how the eyes and brain work together to produce these strange effects.
